In hot summer, about 1,000 mu (about 66.67 hectares) of rice paddy paintings are unfolding in Shuangping Village, Longtan Town, Huayuan County.

The rice field paintings, featuring the Party emblem, Miao totem and other elements, consist of purple, yellow and green rice crops, becoming a unique and beautiful scenery line in the local area.

It is the third year for Shuangping Village to make rice paddy paintings. These paintings are created through satellite positioning, and 3D technology. The design and transplanting of rice crops in these paintings of the village are all done by the Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

As a key village for rural tourism in the province, through the art form of rice paddy paintings, creative agriculture and rural tourism are combined to attract tourists to experience the new scenery of the new countryside in their leisure time.

With the help of the local government, the village has vigorously promoted the integrated development of agriculture and tourism. Relying on local good ecological resources and geographical environment, the village has enhanced its reputation and popularity by creating a sightseeing agriculture model.

“Apart from rice field paintings, we also have a sea of cole flowers in spring. About 1,000 crape myrtle flowers are planted on both sides of Longtan River Scenic Belt, and about 200 lamps with Miao ethnic characteristics have been installed. Viewing platforms and micro landscapes have been built, and light shows have been arranged, attracting tourists with different scenery all year round,” said Liu Xunhua, first secretary of the village.

The new rural tourism form combining scenery and villages continues to release new vitality, promoting the innovative integration of agriculture and tourism in the village.
